The four crucial people in the construction of the Studies Building were
Theodore Dreier, math teacher and treasurer, who was the primary
fundraiser and worked closely with Kocher on the design of the building;
Richard Gothe, who organized the work teams (water cup); A. Lawrence Kocher, architect who joined the faculty to oversee the
construction and teach classes; and Charles Godfrey, a local contractor who,
working with a few local people and with students and faculty, directed not only the construction of the Studies Building but also
renovations and small buildings.
