The collage is in honor of Mary Washington’s son Erik who died in an automobile accident. She writes, “This is my son. This is a collage. The shirt is of the Tuskegee Airman. His father was a pilot with the 332nd. You can’t see in the slide but the painting is full of notes, telephone numbers. Erik always wrote numbers on pieces of paper and stuck them in “places.” He knew where they were. He never used the address/telephone book I gave him for Christmas.”
