Rodef Sholom Synagogue
San Rafael, California
ca. 1967
Rodef Sholom Synagogue incorporates a
sanctuary, a social hall, a Sunday school and other facilities. The high
copper hexagonal structure above the sanctuary provides the focus for
the architectural composition. Artists in collaboration with the
architects created stained glass windows, sculpture and the ark curtain.
Jane Slater Marquis, a former Black Mountain student, created the
stained glass panels at the door. Trude Guermonprez Elsesser, who taught
weaving, created the ark curtain.
